PinchukArtCentre presents the exhibition “Forbidden Image” – a project of the PinchukArtCentre Research Platform, consisting of two parts. The first is dedicated to Boris Mikhailov, and the second, titled “Crossing the Border” – to the Kharkiv School of Photography and the continuity of its views and thinking in the work of a new generation of artists.
Both exhibitions explore three main themes that challenge the concept of the forbidden image: the image that goes beyond boundaries (nude, performative), the “intoxicated by life” image of society (new humanism), the intimate image that “soothes at night” (bodily romance).
Exhibition curators: Bjorn Geldhof, Art Director of PinchukArtCentre; Martin Kiefer, Curator of the Department of Contemporary Art at the Louvre Museum, Paris; Alicia Knock, Curator of the Department of Contemporary Art and Research, Centre Pompidou, Paris.
Special thanks for support in the realization of Boris Mikhailov’s exhibition project are expressed to Ms. Suzanne Tarassiev.
